Most people are aware of current occupational health and safety laws to protect our physical health at work. What is less well known is that since 2012, by law, Australian workplaces are also required to provide a mentally safe environment for their employees. While creating a safe and supportive workplace culture is a shared responsibility, the employer is ultimately accountable for this. Which begs the question:

How do we achieve this in ways that support both the staff and the business?

It’s certainly not an easy task, and knowing where to start can be difficult. This is where Mindful Employer can help. As a specialist in workplace mental health and safety, we provide meaningful information in a non-clinical way, which people can apply to their life – both in and outside the workplace. Our goal is to make a difference to the mental health of your team, as well as share skills and knowledge so people know how to support someone they care about. We are not about trying to ‘fix’ anyone, resolve their issue or diagnose them; instead we focus on what to look for and how best to intervene early, in ways that are respectful, supportive and appropriate to an individual’s role in the workplace.
